Elle offers two groups featuring somatic therapy techniques to heal and calm mental health concerns in the body. Led by somatic therapist, Kristen Pesature, the groups are differentiated by the focus of their treatment.
Somatic Group Therapy for General Needs is a unique opportunity to find relief from your daily stressors. A chronic state of stress causes your blood vessels to constrict so that your body begins to expect tension and your ability to connect with the world at large contracts. This group combines restorative yoga with somatic psychotherapy to increase attunement with your body’s inherent ability to self-regulate. Each session features a sequence of postures meant to encourage introspection and a sense of physical grounding. Breath work and mindfulness will accompany each posture along the body’s journey towards calm and regulation.
Somatic Group Therapy for Anxiety will focus on coping skills specific to anxiety. Anxiety makes you feel out of control with symptoms of a racing heart, sweaty palms, rapid thinking, and shallow breathing. The experience of a panic attack or a constant feeling of dread derails your ability to reach your fullest potential. Learn how to challenge these symptoms by tapping into the wisdom of your body.
Somatic Therapy takes place on the floor—utilizing bolsters, pillows, blankets, and yoga mats.
