Trauma Therapy
Elle is proud to offer cutting edge practices for treating people/individuals affected by trauma. A trauma specific focus can help improve your coping mechanisms and decrease the physical, emotional, and psychological effects caused by a traumatic event.
Trauma is any event or experience that causes emotional or psychological harm. Examples include and are not limited to: abuse, abandonment, loss of a loved one, natural disasters, racism, divorce, crime, violence, sexual assault, injury or a near death experience.
Trauma therapy at Elle is provided by our therapists in a variety of ways. Our therapist, Stephanie, specializes in EMDR, an evidence-based protocol designed to specifically treat PTSD. Our therapists, Kim, Shannon, Tarah, and Kristen offer Brainspotting to treat trauma. We also have two somatic therapists who treat trauma by exploring where it lives in your body. Learn more about these modalities below.
For trauma work that is based more in traditional talk therapy, our therapist, Joe, explores trauma via the cognitive and emotional process. This can include a narrative lens with old story/new story language. Additionally, he will identify where trauma and grief intersect.
