Elle Word: Empower

Who inspires me:

I am continually inspired by the artists and the makers of this world. Whether it is visual art, writing, gardening, dancing, music, cooking, creating peace or meaningful relationships, etc., we can make something out of nothing and that is truly magical. I believe we all have this power within us, some have harnessed it well and others have yet to discover what they create or add to this world, and that is an exciting prospect.

Credentials:

Licensed Professional Counselor
Certified Grief Support Specialist
Certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy
National Certified Counselor

Specialty:

I have a passion for working with and empowering women of all ages. My specialties include grief, trauma, couples, self-esteem, self exploration and empowerment, and holistic wellness. Additionally, I am a certified grief support specialist. I believe that people have the ability to grow in the midst of loss, and that awareness of and education on grief and the grieving process is vital to our humanity. I find fulfillment in walking alongside clients on their grief journey towards healing.

Approach:

My approach to therapy is collaborative, empathic, client-centered, trauma informed, and strengths based. I like to think of therapy as learning how to garden: when you put the time in, tend to yourself, pull the weeds, learn what you need, and create the right conditions, you will flourish. I aim to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental atmosphere for all clients. My approach to the therapeutic process reflects my belief in the therapeutic relationship being a healer in itself, sensitivity to the larger contextual factors of one’s life and culture, the undeniable and evidence based mind-body connection, as well as empowering and advocating for my clients and their strengths. I incorporate aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative, person-centered, feminist theory, creative arts, and DBT, depending on the clients needs and preferences. I also draw from somatic modalities including polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing, focusing, and the hakomi method, to support and strengthen the mind-body connection to help achieve true long term healing and post-traumatic growth. I would love for you to feel at home in your body and mind.
